Wetpour Maintenance

Although a lot of Wetpour Maintenance are marketed as maintenance-free’ the reality is that everything needs a little bit of care to keep it in good condition. This is especially true of Wet Pour which can be a difficult surface to clean and can become dirty if not looked after properly.

Wetpour is a mixture of rubber granules bonded together with a polyurethane resin and then poured over tarmac to create a rubberised surface that can be used in a range of different playgrounds as a soft alternative to concrete. It is impact-absorbing and comes in a wide selection of colours that can be added to the surface using either paint or a thermoplastic rubber sheet to create a number of shapes, letters and designs.

The Role of Sealants in Wetpour Maintenance

Unfortunately, Wet Pour can be damaged by equipment or vandalism, atmospheric conditions or just general wear and tear. To get minor damage fixed quickly and easily, it is recommended that you use a Wetpour Repair Kit. This will include all of the EPDM rubber granules you need to repair the area along with the required quantity of polyurethane resin to fill in any gaps and help to make the surface watertight again.

It is also important that you keep the surface clean by brushing it regularly to remove mud, dirt and other organic debris from the surface. This will prevent the pores within the safety surface from becoming blocked up. A regular jet wash should also be carried out on the surfacing to deter the growth of algae, moss and unwanted weeds which are easier to prevent than eliminate once they have taken hold.
